Introduction

Our Commitment

The WebSites Group, together with our development advisory arm, Al-Muharir for Technology and Consulting, works across product development, digital transformation, and donor-funded advisory assignments throughout Palestine, Jordan, and the wider region. Much of this work is delivered on behalf of international organizations, donor agencies, and civil society partners who rely on us to act with integrity, transparency, and respect for the people affected by our work.

This page sets out the ethical standards, labour practices, data-handling, and environmental and community commitments that govern how we operate, for our own team, our subcontractors, and every client and donor relationship we enter into.

Standards

Code of Conduct

We conduct our business responsibly, ethically, and with integrity, in line with applicable national law and internationally recognized standards including the principles of the UN Global Compact and the Danish Ethical Trading Initiative guidelines. This applies equally to our own staff and to any subcontractor or partner engaged on our behalf.

Fair business practice

No Inducements

We do not offer, give, receive, or solicit anything of value as an inducement in connection with any contract or engagement.

Governance

Conflict of Interest

Team members disclose any personal, financial, or political interest that could compromise impartial delivery of a project.

Trust

Confidentiality

Client and beneficiary information is treated as private and is never disclosed beyond what a project requires.

Extended standard

Subcontractor Accountability

Where we engage subcontractors, we hold them to the same standards set out on this page.

Workplace standards

Human & Labour Rights

We recognize that every person we work with, employee, contractor, or partner, is entitled to dignity, fair treatment, and safe working conditions. Our practice is guided by the International Bill of Human Rights and the core conventions of the International Labour Organization.

Freely chosen employment.

We do not use forced, bonded, or compulsory labour in any form.

No child labour.

We do not engage individuals under the legal working age, and we apply additional safeguards for any work involving younger team members in permitted light work.

Non-discrimination.

Hiring, compensation, and advancement decisions are made without regard to race, gender, religion, national origin, disability, or political affiliation.

Safe and fair working conditions.

Working hours, leave, and workplace safety follow applicable Palestinian and Jordanian labour law as a floor, not a ceiling.

Freedom of association.

Team members are free to raise concerns and organize without fear of retaliation.

Integrity

Anti-Corruption & Financial Integrity

We maintain zero tolerance for bribery, fraud, embezzlement, and extortion in any form. Payments received under a contract represent the sole compensation for our work; we do not accept commissions, kickbacks, or indirect payments connected to any engagement. Our teams are expected to flag any request or offer that could constitute a corrupt practice immediately to project leadership.

Corporate social responsibility

Environmental & Community Impact

Beyond the ethical and labour standards set out above, we recognize a broader responsibility to the environment we operate in and the communities our work touches, particularly given how much of our advisory work is delivered in service of public and donor-funded programmes across Palestine, Jordan, and the wider region.

Environment

Responsible Resource Use

As a technology and advisory firm, our direct environmental footprint is modest. We minimize it where we can: favouring remote and hybrid delivery over travel where a project allows, reducing paper use in client and donor deliverables, and choosing efficient, well-managed hosting for the platforms we build.

Environment

Sustainable Digital Products

Where we design and build digital platforms, we favour lean, efficient architectures over unnecessary infrastructure, reducing the computing resources our clients' products consume over their lifetime.

Community

Knowledge & Capacity Sharing

Through Al-Muharir, our advisory work is itself community-facing: strengthening MSMEs, supporting financial inclusion programmes, and helping public institutions build lasting technical and evaluative capacity rather than one-off deliverables.

Community

Local Talent & Regional Growth

We prioritize hiring and developing talent from the communities we operate in, and we work to keep technical and advisory capacity based in the region rather than offshored.

In practice

We do not currently hold formal environmental certification (such as ISO 14001), and our community impact is delivered primarily through the substance of our advisory and development work rather than a separate philanthropic programme. We review this approach periodically as the firm grows.

Responsible data practice

Data Protection

Our work regularly involves personal data, from CVs and expert profiles submitted in proposals, to beneficiary information collected under donor-funded programmes, to user data handled within the digital platforms we build. We apply data protection principles aligned with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) across these engagements, regardless of where a given client is based.

Principle

Data Minimization

We collect only the personal data a project genuinely requires, and avoid unnecessary tracking or profiling in the products we build.

Principle

Purpose Limitation

Personal data shared with us for one purpose, such as a proposal or evaluation, is not repurposed without consent.

Principle

Secure Handling

We use access controls, secure storage, and secure development practices, including never hard-coding credentials into source code.

Principle

Transparency

Where our platforms collect user data, we disclose what is collected and why, and avoid manipulative or dark-pattern design.

In practice

For every donor-funded or client engagement, our team documents what personal data is collected, who can access it, and how long it is retained, and we do not introduce third-party analytics or tracking on client platforms without prior written approval.

Reference frameworks

Governance & Frameworks

The commitments on this page are informed by the following recognized frameworks. We do not hold formal ISO or SA8000 certification at this time; the practices above reflect how these standards are applied operationally across our engagements.

Accountability

Raising a Concern

Any employee, subcontractor, client, or member of the public who becomes aware of a violation of the standards on this page is encouraged to raise it directly and in confidence.
